RESTORATION

THE RESTORATION PROJECT

The fabric of the Cathedral is now in dire need of restoration. Recent expert architectural inspections have identified severe problems threatening the tower, the spire and the external and internal stonework. Parts of the structure are now officially described as “unstable”.

The need is pressing. An appeal has been launched to raise more than €8,000,000 (more than €8 million) for vital restoration work. The fund will be ring-fenced for this work only – it will not be used for running expenses. The Restoration Appeal aims to meet its target of Euro 8 million by end-2023.
