Arabella Dorman, internationally renowned war atist and one of Britain’s leading portrait painters, gave an outstanding and very moving talk about her exploration of the human face of conflict in the Middle East to a spell bound audience at the National Liberal Club in London’s Whitehall on 28th January. Using her own paintings and sketches she took us on a journey from Iraq to Afghanistan, Lebanon, Gaza and most recently Syria, in her search for light in the darkest corners of existence.

The St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral Save Valletta’s Skyline Restoration Appeal is delighted to have received a grant from EU funding of 4.2 million Euros for Phase 1 of the Restoration Project, which when combined with its own Co-financing contribution will amount in total to a budget of 5:25 million Euros being made available to restore the Cathedral. Given the range of other demands and deserving bids for EU funding from other cultural heritage NGOs, this is a most helpful and positive response.

Nearly 200 happy people wined, dined and danced the night away at the ‘Skyline Ball’ in the magical setting of Palazzo Parisio’s gardens in Naxxar last Friday, 20th July. They were all there to support the Valletta Skyline Appeal for the restoration of St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral.

The cost of saving the St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral structure and spire in Valletta has doubled to more than €7 million, the committee tasked with raising funds said as it announced that restoration works are expected to begin shortly.

A newly launched appeal for €3m (£2.6m) to restore St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral in Valetta, Malta has got off to an encouraging start. The appeal attracted wide attention with a headline in the Sunday Times “Queen’s Maltese Church is Crumbling” drawing attention to the fact that after World War II, the then Princess Elizabeth lived on the Mediterranean island while Prince Philip was stationed there as a Royal Naval officer.

Towering 200 feet over the seaward approach to Valletta, St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral in Malta is a vital part of Malta’s rich cultural heritage. It pays homage to St Paul who was shipwrecked here in about AD 60 and brought Christianity to Malta.
